FDE clinches ‘Overall Best Directorate’ trophy in FBISE sports contest

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) achieved a landmark success by winning the “Overall Best Directorate” trophies in all major categories of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Inter-Directorate and Inter-Collegiate Sports Tournaments for the 2025-26 session.
To celebrate the historic achievement, a grand ceremony was held at Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4 on Tuesday. The event was attended by the Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as chief guest. Upon his arrival, Director General (DG) of the FDE Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Chairman FBISE Dr Ikram Ali Malik, Principal of the college and senior officials welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed him about the stellar performance of the FDE students in the competitions.
According to the Junaid Akhlaq, the FDE dominated the competitions across boys’ and girls’ categories. In the Inter-Directorate Boys Tournaments, FDE Team A secured the “Overall Best Directorate” title with 16 points after impressive performances in cricket and football.
In the Inter-Collegiate Boys competitions, FDE once again emerged as the “Overall Best Directorate” with 11 points, powered by gold medal-winning performances in cricket and football.
The girls’ teams also displayed outstanding performances. In the Inter-Directorate Girls Tournaments, FDE claimed the top position with 11 points, while Team C won the hockey championship. In the Inter-Collegiate Girls Tournaments, FDE comfortably secured the “Overall Best Directorate” trophy with 17 points, excelling in cricket and hockey events.
Later, the Federal Minister visited different sports fields and courts where students demonstrated their skills in volleyball, football and table tennis.
The gathering witnessed a lively moment when a student invited the minister to play table tennis. Accepting the challenge, the minister played a few shots with the students, drawing cheers and applause from the audience.
The ceremony formally began with a welcome address by the Director General FDE, who praised the dedication of physical education instructors and the determination of students.
Later, the Federal Minister and the Chairman FBISE distributed trophies among the winning student-athletes. Addressing the participants, the minister appreciated the efforts of schools, coaches and students, emphasizing that sports play a vital role in character-building and holistic development.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure in public educational institutions.
