Under the digital vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain, a significant and historic agreement was signed on Thursday between the Workers Welfare Fund and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The purpose of this agreement is to ensure transparency within the Workers Welfare Fund system and further modernize and improve the delivery of welfare services.
Under this agreement, real-time verification of workers and their family members’ information will be made possible, enabling welfare facilities to be delivered through a modern and efficient system.
The agreement was signed by Secretary Zulfiqar Ahmad on behalf of the Workers Welfare Fund, while Chief Project Officer Rehman Qamar signed on behalf of NADRA.
As part of the agreement, NADRA will provide advanced digital verification services to the Workers Welfare Fund, enabling immediate verification of applicants and their families for various welfare schemes. These services will include all necessary verifications related to marriage grants, death grants, educational scholarships, and other welfare programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmad stated that the vision of Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain is to ensure comprehensive transparency within the institution and implement practical measures that truly promote social justice and social protection.
He further said that this agreement would not only enhance transparency in the Workers Welfare Fund system but also improve the speed and efficiency of service delivery, directly benefiting millions of workers.
The project is expected to benefit more than 1.9 million registered workers and their families across the country, while also helping eliminate unnecessary delays in welfare schemes.
He expressed hope that the modern verification system launched with NADRA’s cooperation would serve as a model for future welfare and wellbeing projects for workers. On this occasion, NADRA Chief Project Officer Rehman Qamar appreciated the efforts of the Workers Welfare Fund Islamabad and termed it a historic achievement.
