SCCI welcomes launch of Peshawar Safe City Project

Altaf says such an initiative would boost confidence of investors, revive economic activities in KP

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry described the Peshawar Safe City Project as the brainchild of the chamber and its formal implementation it’s a major achievement.
President of the chamber Junaid Altaf along with senior vice president Muhammad Nadeem and vice president Sabir Ahmad Bangash and executive committee in their remarks in a statement here on Wednesday, appreciated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and police and relevant stakeholders for launch of the project.
They highlighted the significance of the Peshawar Safe Cities Project, which according to them, is a dire need of the hour that would play a crucial role in providing a safe and secure atmosphere and ensure protection of the lives and property of the citizens.
It is mentioned here that KP government and police formally launched Peshawar Safe Cities Project with advanced AI-powered cameras featuring facial recognition and providing round-the-clock surveillance.
Senior office bearers hoped Peshawar Safe Cities Project would have long-lasting impacts and will contribute to restore the confidence of the people, especially businessmen/investors and their major concerns with regard to security arrangement in the city.
They congratulated the provincial government, Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, IGP KP Zulfiqar Hameed, security institutions and relevant stakeholders for this mega achievement and thanked them for incorporating the business community inputs and proposals in the crucial project.
Over the past many years, the flight of capital from KP has increased due to security, policies and multiple reasons that has generated massive unemployment in the province, President Junaid Altaf remarked.
He, however, said such an initiative would play a significant role in restoring the confidence of the investors that would help to revive the business and commercial activities in the province. The president said SCCI is proactively working on the economic growth of KPK in collaboration with provincial government, institutions and relevant stakeholders.
He said the chamber is making efforts to gain a mega incentive package to revive business and industry in K-P, adding that proposals had been submitted to central and provincial governments for ease of doing business and facilitation service under one-window operation to the business community.
President Junaid Altaf said vast opportunities for investment available in multiple sectors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, however, emphasized the need to fully capitalize and unlock these potentials to generate employment for many people and improve the economy as well.
