Barrister Saif blames federal govt for ‘rising terrorism’

Barrister Dr. Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, has stated that terrorism is not just a provincial issue but a national problem. He criticized the federal government for shifting the entire burden onto Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and accused it of adopting an extremely unserious approach toward countering terrorism.
Dr. Saif expressed the provincial government’s frustration over what he termed as the federal government’s lack of commitment and cold attitude towards Afghanistan. He claimed that this negligence has contributed to the recent surge in terrorism. He further criticized the federal authorities for neither engaging in negotiations with Afghanistan nor allowing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to do so.
He revealed that the provincial government had submitted Terms of Reference (TORs) to the federal government for initiating dialogue with Afghanistan. However, he alleged that the federal authorities have shelved the proposal, hindering any progress on this crucial issue.
Saif urged the federal government to immediately approve the TORs to facilitate negotiations. He announced that, in the broader interest of both the country and the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is dispatching a delegation to Afghanistan. Ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property remains the provincial government’s top priority, he affirmed.
