KP CM calls for peaceful protest, emphasizes adherence to D-Chowk plan

Spokesperson for CM Gandapur condemns attacks on media workers and vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reiterated the commitment to a peaceful protest during his address to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers participating in the protest convoy in Islamabad.
He stressed the importance of following PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s directive to gather at D-Chowk in Islamabad and not to advance beyond it without explicit instructions.
“Imran Khan has always taught us to remain peaceful,” Gandapur remarked. “D-Chowk means D-Chowk,” said a statement issued by CM media cell.
We will not go beyond it until directed by Imran Khan.” He called on workers to uphold discipline, reminding them of the sacrifices made by their ancestors for the country’s freedom.
Gandapur urged participants to be wary of disruptive elements attempting to disturb the peaceful nature of the PTI protest.
Addressing the crowd earlier, Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, emphasized the strategic importance of D-Chowk as the designated protest site.
She noted that conspiratorial elements might attempt to redirect the protest elsewhere. “Imran Khan told me to ensure that the workers reach D-Chowk at all costs,” she stated, urging participants to remain peaceful and focused.
The statement said that PTI leader Hammad Azhar also addressed logistical concerns for workers traveling from Punjab, advising them to avoid main roads and social media until they reached Islamabad to ensure safety.
“Those traveling should consider alternative routes and announce their presence only upon arrival in Islamabad,” Azhar recommended.
PTI leaders emphasized discipline and non-violence as central to the protest’s success, reflecting their broader message of peaceful advocacy.
Moreover, the spokesperson for Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur Faraz Ahmed Mughal has strongly condemned the recent attacks on media offices and vehicles, attributing them to a group of anarchists aiming to sabotage PTI peaceful protest efforts.
“These attacks are orchestrated by anarchists, which Ali Amin Gandapur has previously warned about,” Mughal stated. He alleged that the government is using these tactics to prevent media coverage of the ongoing PTI protest. “The real aim of these acts is to suppress the coverage of PTI,” he added.
The spokesperson reaffirmed PTI’s stance on the importance of the media, referring to it as the “fourth pillar of Pakistan.” He highlighted the party’s consistent support for journalists and media representatives, stating, “PTI and Ali Amin Gandapur have always stood by media representatives on every issue.”
Mughal accused the government of exploiting individuals posing as PTI workers to carry out these disruptive activities to conceal their failures. “These anarchists have now been exposed.
Both the public and the media are aware of their true actions,” he asserted.
Reiterating PTI’s commitment to a peaceful and transparent protest, the spokesperson called for an end to such attacks and urged the government to take responsibility for ensuring the safety of media personnel.
