Steps afoot to introduce digital tourism management system in KP, says CM aide

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Tourism Malik Adeel Iqbal on Wednesday said the provincial government would introduce a digital tourism management system to provide safe, integrated and world-class services to visitors across the province.
The remarks came during a high-level meeting chaired by the special assistant to review the proposed establishment of the Tourist Management Information System (TMIS) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a handout.
The meeting discussed the project’s technical framework, digital monitoring mechanisms, security features, tourist facilitation services and coordination among relevant departments. Officials informed the meeting that the TMIS would provide tourists with a digital platform offering information on tourist destinations, hotels, transport facilities, weather conditions, traffic updates, emergency helpline numbers, online complaint registration and real-time travel guidance.
The meeting also reviewed proposals to install solar-powered smart surveillance cameras at tourist destinations in Galliyat and provide free Wi-Fi services at key tourist sites to improve security, traffic management and access to digital information.
Mr Iqbal directed that the TMIS be fully integrated with Tourism Police, Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments to ensure prompt emergency response and assistance for tourists.
Officials informed the meeting that the Tourism Police had already been equipped with a modern wireless communication system to improve coordination among field personnel.
The special assistant also directed the authorities to provide body-worn cameras to Tourism Police personnel to enhance transparency, accountability and service delivery.
Mr Iqbal said the initiative was aimed at promoting smart tourism and creating a safe, organised and internationally competitive tourism environment in the province.
