PTI activists announce volunteer force for Sept 27 march

A group of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists has announced the formation of a volunteer unit, “Pasdaran Azm-i-Imran Khan Pakistan”, to provide assistance and first-aid services to participants of the party’s planned Sept 27 long march.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Friday by PTI leader from Nowshera, Engineer Daniyal Khan Afridi, along with other party workers.
Mr Afridi said the volunteer unit comprised ideological PTI workers and would provide services to participants during the Sept 27 march. He said the volunteers would play a frontline role in assisting party workers along the route.
He said the unit would operate within the constitutional and legal framework and would not allow its volunteers or other participants to take the law into their own hands.
According to Mr Afridi, the volunteers would provide first aid to people injured during possible clashes or shelling and assist participants wherever required.
He appealed to the party leadership, including Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi, to support the volunteer initiative by providing first-aid kits, helmets, protective masks, shoes, coats and other safety equipment.
Mr Afridi said the organisers planned to expand the volunteer network by involving PTI workers from other districts of the province. He said the volunteers would remain available at different points along the march route to assist participants.
He said the unit’s objective was to provide voluntary assistance and help maintain discipline during the mobilisation, adding that no volunteer would be permitted to engage in unlawful activity.
Following the press conference, Mr Afridi administered an oath to members of the newly formed volunteer unit at the Peshawar Press Club.
