Quran Khwani held for Karsaz martyrs, school children in Peshawar

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Women’s Wing organized a Quran Khwani and Fateha Khwani at Babar House, Peshawar City, for the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy and the children who died in the Dir Colony school roof collapse.
The ceremony was attended by MPAs Nilofar Babar and Farzana Shireen, Musarrat Qazi, PPP Peshawar City President Iffat Sajjad and other women workers.
Paying tribute to the martyrs, the participants said October 18 is an unforgettable day in the history of the PPP. In 2007, scores of party workers were martyred in a terrorist attack on the homecoming rally of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Karachi’s Karsaz area. They said their sacrifices remain a glorious chapter in the struggle for democracy and constitutional supremacy.
Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid, in her message, said the sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs would never be forgotten. She said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s mission was to serve the masses, empower women and work for the welfare of the underprivileged, and it was the responsibility of every worker to carry forward her vision.
She said BISP was working for the economic independence and dignity of deserving women in line with Benazir Bhutto’s vision.
The participants also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of innocent children in the Dir Colony school roof collapse in Peshawar and offered Fateha for the departed souls and patience for the bereaved families.
They reaffirmed PPP’s resolve to remember the sacrifices of its martyrs and continue its struggle for democracy, constitutional supremacy and protection of public rights.
