Pakistan Railways to digitise 10 weigh-in-motion bridges by Sept 15

Pakistan Railways (PR) is working to digitise and integrate 10 Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) bridges into a centralised digital monitoring platform under the Railway Advanced Infrastructure Network (RAIN) Project, with the activity scheduled for completion by September 15, 2026.
According to a document available with Wealth Pakistan, the project is being implemented in response to a recommendation by the Senate Standing Committee on Railways regarding the development and implementation status of the project for computerisation of WIM bridges.
The RAIN Project envisages the digitisation and integration of 10 Weigh-in-Motion bridges across Pakistan Railways with PROMISE (Pakistan Railway Operational and Management Integrated Services Ecosystem).
The integrated system will provide real-time monitoring, reporting and data-driven operational decision-making.
One Weigh-in-Motion bridge has already been successfully digitised and integrated with the PROMISE dashboard, with its operational data being received and displayed in real time.
According to the document, the successful integration has validated the system architecture and established the digital framework for the remaining installations.
The digitisation and integration of the remaining nine WIM bridges is currently in progress under the RAIN Project. The scheduled completion date for the activity is September 15, 2026.
Following completion, all designated WIM bridges will be integrated with the PROMISE platform for centralised monitoring and analytics.
