KP moves court against ECP over reserved seats allocation

Saif highlighted that eight Supreme Court judges ruled in favor of PTI’s reserved seats

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Friday announced that the provincial government will file a petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Peshawar High Court.
The petition contests the ECP’s refusal to notify reserved seats for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), despite a majority decision by the Supreme Court supporting the allocation.
The provincial cabinet, led by the Chief Minister, approved this decision and authorized the Advocate General to proceed, he said.
Saif highlighted that eight Supreme Court judges ruled in favor of PTI’s reserved seats, and criticized the ECP for delaying and now allegedly defying the court’s orders.
He also expressed concern over the delay in the schedule for Senate elections in KP, emphasizing that the ECP’s actions were causing harm to PTI.
