Eight militants killed, six security personnel martyred in Hangu clash: ISPR

Eight militants were killed while six security personnel, including two young army officers, embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire between a security forces convoy and militants in Hangu district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). (The Express Tribune)
According to ISPR, the militants were described as members of the Indian-sponsored “Fitna-Al-Khwarij.” During the intense exchange, Captain Abuzar Farooq, 23, a resident of Gujranwala, and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, 22, a resident of Chakwal, were martyred while leading their troops from the front, along with four other personnel. The military’s media wing said a sanitisation operation was under way to eliminate any other militants found in the area.
ISPR said counterterrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework would continue at full pace, adding that the sacrifices of security personnel reinforced the forces’ commitment to protecting the country.
