Corps Commander Peshawar commends KP police for bravery, professional excellence

Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Omar Ahmed Bukhari visited the Central Police Office (CPO) on Monday, where he was received by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, additional inspectors general, deputy inspectors general and other senior police officers.
A statement issued here stated that a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the corps commander, who also laid a floral wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers for the departed souls.
The statement said that during the visit, the corps commander chaired a high-level meeting in which the IGP gave a detailed briefing on the province’s overall law and order situation, ongoing counterterrorism operations, intelligence-based operations (IBOs), security arrangements for sensitive installations and public places, and the operational preparedness of the police force.
The briefing also covered the use of modern command and control systems, drones and anti-drone technology, as well as measures being taken to tackle emerging security challenges, it added.
Police officials informed the meeting that the force was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, extremism and organised crime, while intensifying intelligence-based operations to prevent terrorist attacks and ensure the writ of the state.
The IGP said five districts in the province were being transformed into models of modern, smart and community-oriented policing through the introduction of smart surveillance, digital monitoring, advanced investigation systems, transparent service delivery and intelligence-led policing. He added that the model would be expanded to the rest of the province in phases.
The corps commander was also briefed on ongoing welfare initiatives for police personnel, including professional training, provision of protective equipment, residential and healthcare facilities, support for the families of martyred officers and other welfare measures.
As per the statement, Lt Gen Bukhari commended the KP Police for its professionalism, courage and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and expressed confidence in the force’s operational capabilities.
Later, the corps commander met police personnel and appreciated their commitment to maintaining peace and protecting citizens. He reaffirmed the resolve of the Pakistan Army and the KP Police to continue joint efforts against terrorism, extremism and other threats to security through close coordination, integrated strategies and the use of modern resources.
At the conclusion of the visit, the corps commander and the inspector general exchanged commemorative shields.
