CM aide launches tree plantation drive

Distributes electric wheelchairs

KOHAT:Special assistant to the chief minister for information Shafi Jan on Tuesday distributed electric wheelchairs and other assistive devices among persons with disabilities during a Social Welfare Department event in Kohat, while also inaugurating the Meetha Khan–Marai Road project and launching a tree plantation campaign.
According to a statement, addressing the ceremony, Jan said the government was taking practical measures to empower persons with disabilities and integrate them as active, self-reliant members of society. “Serving special persons is a shared responsibility, and their welfare is essential for building a dignified society,” he remarked. Beneficiaries of the initiative appreciated the government’s support, with officials, local elders, and residents in attendance.
Later, Jan inaugurated the construction of the Meetha Khan–Marai Road, calling it a significant step toward regional development. He said the project would improve transportation, boost local trade, and enhance economic activity, directing authorities to ensure its timely and quality completion. Local representatives, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Orakzai General Secretary Abdul Rahman, were present at the inauguration.
During the visit, Jan also launched a tree plantation drive under the Urban Area Development Authority by planting a sapling. He urged citizens to participate actively, describing afforestation as crucial for a greener and safer future. He noted that over one million trees had been planted, exceeding the target set by the Forest Department on Pakistan Day, reflecting the government’s environmental commitment.
