PTI to continues its peaceful and legal struggle: Shafi Jan

Arrest of PTI workers outside Adiala Jail condemnable: CM aide

PESHAWAR
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Shafi Jan has strongly condemned the arrest of peaceful workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) outside Adiala Jail, terming it an act of authoritarianism.
In a statement issued here, he said the Punjab government’s action was “highly condemnable and regrettable” and reflected “authoritarian governance” in the province.
He added that PTI workers, along with the sisters and lawyers of the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, had gone to meet him in line with court orders but were denied access.
Shafi Jan said the refusal to allow meetings, along with the arrest of peaceful workers, amounted to a violation of the Constitution, court orders, jail rules, and fundamental human rights.
He maintained that meetings with Imran Khan’s family, political leadership, and legal team were a legal and constitutional right that could not be suspended.
He further alleged that an undeclared ban on meetings with the PTI founder amounted to political victimisation and solitary confinement, adding that such actions had exposed what he called the “authoritarian conduct” of both the federal and Punjab governments.
The CM aide also criticised the federal government, accusing it of pursuing political revenge, filing false cases, and suppressing political activities of the opposition, while neglecting public issues due to what he described as poor economic and anti-people policies.
Mr Jan said the party would continue its “peaceful and legal struggle” for the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law, and the release of Imran Khan.
