SCCI launches a fundraising campaign for flood-victims of KP

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has established a fund for relief, rehabilitation and resettlement of thousands of families, adversely affected by devastating flood, torrential rains and cloudbursts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In this respect, the fund raising campaign was formally launched by the SCCI president Fazal Moqeem Khan during a special meeting of the chamber’s executive committee on Flood Relief, held here at the chamber house.
Apart from the senior vice president of the chamber Abdul Jalil Jan, Leader of Businessman Forum and former president FPCCI Ghazanfar Bilour, former presidents Malik Niaz Ahmad, Riaz Arshad, Zahidullah Shinwari, Zufiqar Ali Khan, Faiz Muhammad Faizi, Adeel Rauf, former vice president Shuja Muhammad, members of the SCCI’s executive committee Safiullah Khan, Abbas Fuad Azeem, Shamsur Rahim, Hassan Zahideen, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Adnan Nasir, Afshfaq Ahmad, Nadeem Rauf and Ihsanullah, Saddar Gul, Faiz Rasool, Instiaq Muhammad Paracha, Secretary General SCCI Muqtasid Ahsan and others were present during the meeting.
The meeting urged SCCI members and philanthropists and donors to extend any kind of generous support to flood victims in their time testing situation and become the helping hand of the chamber for their relief and rehabilitation.
Meeting thoroughly discussed modalities and various proposals for assistance of the flood affected people and decided to initially raise funds and distribute the collected donations on a need and requirement basis.
The meeting extended heartfelt condolences over loss of precious human lives and infrastructure destruction, especially massive damages to traders in flash flood, heavy downpour and cloudburst in Buner, Swat, Shangla, Swabi and Peshawar along with other parts of the province.
Business leaders on the occasion prayed for elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and deaths during KP flood fury and relief operation and granting patient and fortitude to their families.
Meeting congratulated a senior executive member and former senior vice president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ziaul Haq Sarhad who was honoured a top civil award “Sitara-i-Imtiaz from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by Government of Pakistan, in recognition of his meritorious services for the country.
Fazal Moqeem expressed profound grief and sorrow over martyrdoms and deaths during flash flood and cloudbursts and relief operation in the province, calling it as a great tragedy in the country’s history that had brought the worst kind of devastation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The SCCI chief said the business community stands with difficult times with flood affected people and assured to extend every possible financial support to them.
Ghazanfar Bilour commended the occasion, expressed deep grief over the devastation caused by cloudbursts and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Pakistan and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
The group leader said we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in this hour of grief. He assured to mobilize all resources for relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.
Former presidents Zahidullah Shinwari, Riaz Arshad, Adeel Rauf, Zulfiqar Ali Khan and others also spoke on the occasion and gave number of proposals for fund generation, distribution of any kind of aid and rehabilitation of the flood affected people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
