Relief, compensation underway in Hazara flood areas: Arshad Ayub

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Arshad Ayub visited Mansehra on Tuesday and chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of the victims in the flood-affected areas of Hazara Division.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Pakhtun Yar Khan, MNA Gustasip Khan, and MPA Muneer Hussain Lughmani, while Deputy Commissioner Mansehra Mian Behzad Adil, officials of the Local Government Department, TMAs, WASA, Rescue, and C&W were also present.
Different departments gave a detailed briefing to the Provincial Minister for Local Government regarding the human and financial losses caused by the floods, as well as the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Arshad Ayub said that, on the instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, all provincial departments are jointly helping the flood-affected people. He said that floods are a natural disaster, and the provincial government will ensure the complete restoration of infrastructure in all affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the provincial government stands firmly with its people in this hour of grief.
He stated that the losses of all departments in Hazara Division due to the floods are being assessed, and the provincial government has released funds to the Deputy Commissioner Mansehra for relief and rehabilitation work, after which full-scale restoration will be carried out. Arshad Ayub further said that the provincial government is thankful to the Pakistan Army and the Federal Government for assisting the flood victims in this difficult time.
He said that compensation payments have already been initiated for the families of those who lost their lives in the floods, and all damages will be compensated. He added that permanent arrangements will also be made to protect populations from floods in the future so that no harm is caused to residential areas.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Arshad Ayub also directed the concerned authorities to ensure the cleaning of nullahs (drainage channels) on a regular monthly basis.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering told the media that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the provincial government will extend all possible assistance to flood victims.
He said that all departments have been instructed to make coordinated efforts, and his department will soon begin the restoration of water supply schemes. He appealed to the public to refrain from throwing encroachments and waste into drainage channels.
