Saif criticizes Maryam for ‘Kisan Card’ initiative

Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, has issued a strong response to Maryam Nawaz’s statement regarding the plight of Punjab farmers.
In a statement, he urged the Punjab CM to address farmers’ grievances directly, questioning why they were left struggling to sell their wheat.
Reacting to Maryam’s remarks on the “Kisan Card,” Saif has stated that Punjab’s farmers have yet to see relief despite the government’s promised 300 billion rupee losses into the agriculture sector.
He pointed out that wheat stocks remain unsold due to Punjab’s alleged policy failures, leading to farmer protests that have become a “daily routine.”
He added that farmers have been forced into financial desperation, with some driven to extreme measures. “The Punjab government should thank Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for purchasing wheat from Punjab’s farmers,” he remarked, emphasizing that supporting farmers should be a priority over promoting the Kisan Card initiative.
The Punjab government should prioritize direct wheat procurement to ensure farmers receive fair compensation, noting that farmers are the backbone of the country’s economy, and their exploitation harms the nation as a whole.
