ECC considers proposal for export of 108,000 MT sugar

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Wednesday considered a proposal of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to invite international tenders for export of 108,000 metric tonnes (MT) of sugar held by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP).
The cabinet committee meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, according to press release issued by finance ministry here.
The sugar is part of the remaining stock from the 300,000 MT imported last year on the recommendation of the Steering Committee on Sugar, constituted with the approval of the Cabinet.
The proposed international tender process will be conducted strictly in accordance with the PPRA Rules, 2004.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain; Federal Minister for Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh; Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan; along with federal secretaries and senior officials from the relevant ministries and divisions.
