Independence day football tournament kicks off in Peshawar

PESHAWAR
An Independence Day Football Tournament got underway in Peshawar with an impressive opening ceremony at Tehmas Khan Stadium, organized under the auspices of the Regional Sports Officer Peshawar.
Regional Sports Officer Peshawar Ahmad Zaman was the chief guest at the opening ceremony, which was attended by National Junior Football Team coach Muhammad Arshad, Pakistan Mini Football Federation President Malik Hidayat-ul-Haq, District Khyber Sports Officer Faisal Javed, along with football officials, players and other prominent personalities associated with the sport.
Ahmad Zaman, accompanied by other distinguished guests, formally inaugurated the tournament by kicking the ball.
The tournament is being conducted under the supervision of the District Football Association Peshawar, with teams from different parts of Peshawar competing for the title.
The event aims to provide young footballers with an opportunity to showcase their talent while celebrating the spirit of Independence Day through sports. It is also expected to help identify and promote emerging football talent in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Ahmad Zaman said that sports play a vital role in engaging young people in healthy activities, promoting discipline and fostering positive thinking. He said that such tournaments would contribute significantly to the promotion of football in Peshawar and provide a platform for talented young players to emerge.
The tournament will continue over the coming days, with the final scheduled to be played on August 13, when the top-performing teams will compete for the championship title.
