PESHAWAR
Capital City Police Peshawar claimed a major breakthrough after arresting three dangerous suspects allegedly involved in multiple bank robbery incidents, including the failed multi-million-rupee bank heist at Pir Bala Chowk on Warsak Road in which Additional SHO Bahar Ali embraced martyrdom while bravely confronting the robbers.
According to a press release issued by Capital City Police Peshawar on Monday, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed had taken strict notice of two major incidents — the bloody bank robbery at a private bank on Kohat Road within the limits of Inqilab Police Station on January 20, 2026, and the March 6 attempted bank robbery at Pir Bala Chowk, Warsak Road.
On the directives of the IGP, special investigation teams were constituted under the supervision of CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad. The teams included SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SSP Investigation Ayesha Gul, SP Muhammad Arshad Khan, SP Fida Hussain, relevant SDPOs, SHOs, and investigation officers.
Police said the teams utilized Safe City surveillance systems along with modern scientific and technical methods to investigate the cases from multiple angles. Raids were conducted in Tirah and Bara areas of Khyber district, Charsadda, and various localities of Peshawar, while several suspects were also interrogated during the investigation process.
The breakthrough came late Sunday night after police received information about armed suspects present near Northern Bypass within the jurisdiction of Machni Gate Police Station, allegedly planning another serious crime. Acting swiftly, police carried out a targeted operation and arrested three dangerous suspects, while three accomplices managed to escape on a motorcycle.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Shoaib son of Yousaf Khan, a resident of Bara, Khyber district; Muhammad Umar alias Wajahat son of Roman Khan, resident of Budh Bair Salman Khel; and Muhammad Imad son of Merajul Haq, resident of Utmanzai Charsadda currently residing in Safia Homes.
Police officials stated that the arrested suspects were wanted in several serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, terrorism, vehicle theft, and other offences registered at Machni Gate, Inqilab, Regi, and Budh Bair police stations.
