Taiwan says US has ‘reaffirmed its clear and firm support’ for island

TAIPEI: Taiwan said Thursday the United States has expressed “clear and firm support” for the island democracy, as US President Donald Trump meets with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing.

“The US side has repeatedly reaffirmed its clear and firm support for Taiwan,” cabinet spokeswoman Michelle Lee told reporters.
