Students from APS and other educational institutions complete two-week summer internship at KMU

A group of students from Army Public School for International Studies, Army Public School & College for Girls, Future World School & College, and Farabi Degree College successfully completed a two-week Summer Internship Program at Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, aimed at introducing young learners to academic, clinical, and research opportunities in the healthcare sector.
During the internship, students visited key KMU facilities, including the Public Health Reference Laboratory, Animal House, Plant Research Laboratory, and the KMU Hospital & Research Center, where they gained firsthand exposure to modern healthcare, laboratory technologies, and biomedical research.
They also received guidance on admission opportunities in undergraduate programs, including MBBS, BDS, Pharm-D, Nursing, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), and Allied Health Sciences, along with awareness sessions on healthy lifestyles, the dangers of self-medication, and the importance of timely consultation with qualified healthcare professionals.
The internship was coordinated by Mr. Sahir Atiq, Additional Director Academics, Dr. Hafsah Muhammad, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS), and Mr. Abdur Rehman, Research Associate at the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).
A special “Meet the Expert” session provided students with an opportunity to interact with senior faculty members and researchers, who shared valuable insights into healthcare education and career development.
The program concluded with student presentations followed by a certificate distribution ceremony. Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Inayat Shah, Director Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS), congratulated the students on successfully completing the internship and encouraged them to pursue careers in healthcare with dedication, integrity, and a passion for scientific excellence.
Certificates were distributed by Prof. Dr. Inayat Shah in the presence of Dr. Zahish Safiullah Jan, Dr. Nayab Safiullah Jan, Assistant Professor of Hematology, and other faculty members.
