Material testing to be made mandatory in all road projects: Shakeel Khan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communications and Works (C&W) Shakeel Khan has said that testing of construction materials will be made mandatory in all road construction and rehabilitation projects across the province to ensure quality, durability and compliance with prescribed technical standards.
He made these remarks while chairing a high-level meeting of the Communications and Works Department, which was attended by Secretary C&W Noorul Amin, MNA Sher Ali Arbab, chief engineers and other senior technical officers.
During the meeting, Secretary Noorul Amin briefed the provincial minister on ongoing development projects, the department’s development portfolio and other administrative matters.
The minister stressed the need for improving departmental performance and the quality of public service delivery. He directed field officers, particularly superintending engineers, executive engineers and sub-divisional officers, to conduct regular site visits of development projects.
He further instructed chief engineers to ensure effective supervision and proper verification of field inspections carried out by subordinate staff.
Shakeel Khan also directed that the Road Asset Management System (RAMS) be implemented on a priority basis, adding that a comprehensive policy in this regard should be prepared and submitted for provincial government approval without delay.
He ordered the immediate disposal of pending promotion cases across various cadres in the department and emphasised the need for timely professional development of employees.
The minister underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, quality construction and effective planning, directing officials to work in close coordination to improve infrastructure development and public service delivery across the province.
