Govt reports 94pc fund utilization in NMAs as CM-KP reviews spending mechanism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday reviewed the province’s development spending and directed departments to expedite project completion to ensure timely benefits for citizens. Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, Afridi assessed the utilization of funds under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Annual Development Programme, the Merged Districts ADP, the Accelerated Implementation Programme, and foreign-assisted projects.
Officials briefed the meeting that fund utilization in the Merged Districts ADP had reached 94 percent, the highest among the programmes. Utilization under the Accelerated Implementation Programme stood at 92 percent, while 88 percent of released funds under the provincial ADP had been spent. Implementation across sectors was described as satisfactory, with officials expressing confidence that the target of 100 percent utilization of released funds would be achieved in the coming days.
“Timely completion of development projects is essential for accelerating economic growth, improving public service delivery, and strengthening governance outcomes across the province,” the chief minister said.
Afridi reiterated that health and education remained the government’s top priorities, adding that the next ADP would continue to focus heavily on these sectors alongside other critical social services.
He stressed that providing quality healthcare was a core government responsibility and said no compromise would be made on improving access to essential services. Noting the growing patient load on Peshawar’s major hospitals, he called for enhanced attention, strategic planning, and targeted investments in the health sector.
The chief minister said projects nearing completion would be prioritized to ensure tangible benefits reach communities without delay. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparent, efficient, and timely use of development resources across all regions of KP.
