Budget will not be presented on June 5

ISLAMABAD
Federal budget will not be presented on June 5 while meeting of National Economic Council (NEC) has been postponed.
As per media reports, federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 will not be presented on June 5 and it is likely to be presented on June 08 or 12. Final date has not been fixed so far.
PSDP and budget talks are underway with IMF still due to which budget date is being changed.
As per sources meeting of NEC to be held under Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif today has been postponed. In this meeting approval to federal and provincial development budget was to be given.
All the four chief ministers, finance ministers were expected to attend the NEC meeting. PM AJK was also to attend the meeting.
Under the directives of PM, PSDP is being enhanced by Rs 200 billion. IMF will be informed on increase of Rs 200 billion in development budget. Efforts will be made for adjustment of Rs 200 billion under different financial steps.
Development budget of Rs 4715 billion is likely to be presented in NEC. Federal Development Budget is likely to be of Rs 1326 billion instead of Rs 1126 billion.
Development budget of Rs 3138 will be presented for provinces in the meeting.
Development budget of Rs 1450 billion for Punjab, Rs 816 billion for Sindh, Rs 564 billion for KP and Rs 308 billion for Balochistan will be presented in the meeting.
