Govt gives people financial budget despite financial difficulties: Tarar

Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar has said people friendly budget has been given despite financial difficulties.
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif along with his team worked hard day in day out for economic stability. Finance minister
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and their teams and all stakeholders including SIFC played their role for economic stability. Today country is heading towards economic stability which is outcome of collective efforts.
Government created such financial room through economic stability, FBR reforms, digitalization of tax system and increase in taxes due t which public relief became possible.
He said Prime Minister has been consistently stating during the past two years to give relief to the people provided that space allows it. He said we did not wait for availability of space, but created room to give relief.
He was giving an Online Briefing on the federal budget for financial year 2026-27 to social media influencers along with Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani Wednesday.
He observed the incumbent government assumed the responsibility in difficult economic situation and set the economy on the path to stability through reformative steps under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
He claimed that real relief has been given to salaried class, business community and exporters in the budget.
He held the budget is different from previous budges and is people friendly.
Attaullah Tarar said the government reformed the FBR, integrated the tax collection system, expanded tax net and introduced transparency and merit.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision was clear that the burden of tax defaulters cannot be put on taxpayers.
Attaullah Tarar said the PML-N made efforts to stabilize economy and Prime Minister took the matters related to the economy in his hands under the vision of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He went on to say some people are habitual of criticizing and they believe in criticism for the sake of criticism. The opposition too is admiring the budget.
This is relief based budget. PTI was claiming in the past that country will become bankrupt today or tomorrow. The foreign exchange reserves were at the lowest level at that time.
Resources were not available to meet import requirements. Rupee was not stable during PTI era. Opening LCs for the exporters was very difficult. Inflation had reached the level of 38 percent and it was predicting it would reach the level of 50 percent/. Interest rate was above 22 percent. Certain government personalities had got leave as they did not want that country becomes bankrupt during their time.
No one was ready to take over economy but PML-N leadership took over economy. PM Shehbaz Sharif moved forward economic matters under the vision of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a key role in negotiating with the IMF, which, according to him, helped restore macroeconomic stability. He added that after taking “difficult decisions” over the past two years, the government is now in a position to provide relief to the public.
The minister said individuals earning less than Rs50,000 per month have been exempted from income tax, while those earning between Rs50,000 and Rs100,000 will be taxed at just 1 percent.
He further said the government has taken measures to curb corruption in institutions such as ports, income tax departments and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), adding that Rs60 billion was collected from sugar mills through improved enforcement.
Tarar also said that Rs800 billion was generated through enforcement actions over the past year, while reforms in the housing sector have helped stimulate economic activity across multiple industries.
