Army dominate Junior National Table Tennis championship in Peshawar

PESHAWAR
Pakistan Army emerged as the dominant force at the 31st Junior National Table Tennis Championship, winning multiple team and individual titles as the event concluded at the Qayyum Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The championship featured teams from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as two departmental teams. The event was organised by the Directorate of Sports, KP.
Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed trophies and medals among the winning players.
He was accompanied by Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, Provincial Table Tennis Association Vice President Kifayatullah, Secretary Nawaz Ahmed Alizai and other officials.
In the Under-19 boys team event, Pakistan Army secured the gold medal, while KP claimed silver. Punjab and Sindh shared the bronze medal position. Army also won the Under-15 boys team title, with Punjab finishing second and Islamabad and KP jointly securing third place.
In the girls’ category, Army clinched gold in both the Under-19 and Under-15 team events. Sindh secured silver medals in both categories, while Punjab and KP shared the bronze positions.
Army’s Abdul Muhammad Khan continued his impressive form by winning both the Under-19 and Under-15 boys singles titles. In the Under-19 final, he defeated KP’s Usman Khalil, while Punjab’s Ayan Danish finished runner-up in the Under-15 category.
In the Under-19 girls singles event, Army’s Hoor Fawad won the title, with teammate Haiqa Hassan finishing second. Sindh’s Fatima Danish and Army’s Iman Hassan secured bronze medals.
Army’s Iman Hassan added another gold medal to her tally by winning the Under-15 girls singles title, while Wapda’s Alina Khan secured the silver medal.
In the doubles events, Army’s Abbas and Abdul Muhammad Khan won the Under-19 boys doubles title, defeating Sindh’s Abbas and Arham in the final. In the Under-19 girls doubles, Army’s Halima and Fatima secured gold, while KP’s Hurriya and Gul Alaai claimed silver.
The championship concluded with exciting finals, highlighting the growing standard of junior table tennis in the country.
