All Pakistan national Junior Squash championship begins in Peshawar

PESHAWAR
The All Pakistan National Junior Squash Championship 2026, organized by the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got underway at the Qamar Zaman Squash Court in Peshawar on Tuesday.
More than 100 male and female players in the Under-15 category from all four provinces, Islamabad, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force are participating in the championship.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand.
Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif Khan, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, Additional Director General Sports Ms. Rashida Ghaznavi, Deputy Director Naimatullah, Director Sports Operations Jamshed Baloch, Organizing Secretary Munawar Zaman, Secretary Mansoor Zaman, Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah and other officials and dignitaries of the Provincial Squash Association were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony Taj Muhammad Tarand said that the provincial government is providing young athletes with opportunities to showcase and enhance their talent through the organization of various junior championships.
He termed the championship an important step in this regard and added that the formal inauguration of a series of sporting activities would be carried out by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi.
He said that the objective of these national-level championships is not only to provide young players with competitive opportunities but also to help them learn and further improve their technical skills.
He emphasized that the provincial government is taking practical measures to promote sports and provide modern facilities while efforts are being made to ensure equal sports opportunities across all districts of the province.
This, he added, will enable athletes to progress and prove their abilities at both national and international levels.
Speaking on the occasion Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif Khan and Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider said that players from all four provinces, Islamabad, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force are participating in the championship.
They noted that the provincial government has placed sports among its key priorities, resulting in improvements in sports infrastructure and the continued organization of sporting events.
These initiatives, they said, will help athletes from the province achieve excellence and perform successfully in national and international competitions.
