Have security institutions failed that need was felt to form CCD: LHC

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought detailed report from district jail on the petition of a citizen from Sialkot seeking court’s order for stopping killing of his son in possible police encounter. The court sought detailed report from jail on July 22. The court called Advocate General Punjab (AGP) for assistance on next hearing. AGP was summoned for assistance on the matter related to legal status of CCD and mechanism. The court remarked it is correct CCD is conducting police encounters in Punjab. It has to be seen that why the need was felt to form CCD in the presence of Security Forces and Punjab police. The courts work for supremacy of constitution and law. Justice Farooq Haider remarked we have to see this have security institutions failed that need was felt to form CCD. This has also to be seen what is legal position of this institution in the presence of police, CTD, CIA and other forces. Counsel for citizen Azam Khan told the court that son of the petitioner Rahat is in jail in connection with several crimes. ONLINE
