Govt to promote agriculture in mountainous area: Saif

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken a significant step to promote agriculture in the province’s mountainous areas, following special directives from Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
Advisor to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Mohammad Saif, announced that the provincial government will establish a Mountain Agriculture Development Board and Community Seed Bank to boost food security, generate employment, and improve resource management in highland regions.
In addition, village-level cooperatives and relevant institutions will be revived to support local farmers.
“This is a revolutionary initiative in the agriculture sector aimed at harnessing the untapped potential of our mountainous areas,” said Mr Saif.
He emphasized that the promotion of agriculture in these regions will not only strengthen food systems but also create livelihood opportunities for local communities.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Gandapur, the KP government is prioritizing the development of underprivileged districts.
He noted that this effort aligns with the vision of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the people through sustainable development.
“The government is taking practical and result-oriented steps to transform the agriculture sector, especially in areas with vast but underutilized potential,” he added.
