EC requests SC to reject petitions filed in connection with overseas voting

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission (EC) has requested Supreme Court (SC) to reject petitions filed in connection with overseas voting. EC has filed written reply in SC wherein it is stated amendment in election act has been challenged in the petitions. EC has done I Voting pilot project in October 2018 by polls. It was said in the reply report of pilot project has been presented in parliament for approval. Third party audit of pilot project was got done under the orders of SC. As per third party audit report neither I-voting is secure nor secrecy of vote can be maintained through I voting. EC said in its reply it is privilege of parliament what method it adopts for overseas voting. It is discretion of parliament to reserve seats for overseas Pakistanis or adopt the way of postal balloting. It has been said in the reply parliament can enact law of voting for overseas Pakistanis in embassies if it wills so. It is requested petitions against election amendment act be dismissed. PTI founder, Sheikh Rashid and counsel Dawood Ghaznvi have challenged amendment on not giving right to vote to overseas Pakistanis. Online
