Anti-encroachment operation to continue without discrimination: Samar Bilour

Adviser to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information Samar Haroon Bilour said on Wednesday that grand operation against encroachments was continuing across the province without discrimination and without any political pressure.
In a statement, she said basic purpose of action was removal of encroachments from government land, green belts and drainage system, redressal of problems faced by citizens and improvement of public facilities.
Ms Bilour made it clear that action against encroachments had nothing to do with political victimisation, rather it was purely for welfare and larger interest of public.
Government land and public places were being cleared of encroachments to ensure their effective and better use, she added.
She said improving traffic flow in Peshawar and providing relief to citizens from daily travel problems were among important priorities of government. Patients, students and common citizens faced severe problems daily due to traffic jams.
In this situation, clearing roads and intersections of encroachments and effective traffic planning was inevitable, she added.
The aide said after removal of encroachments, steps would be taken for organised development of roads, bazaars and intersections and provision of civic facilities under better planning.
Along with widening of roads, work would also be done on introducing various means of public transport to meet travel needs of citizens, she added.
She said resolution of drainage and clean drinking water supply problems in Peshawar was also among government’s priorities.
Steps would be taken to separate sewerage and clean drinking water systems to provide better basic facilities to citizens, she added.
She said government’s aim was to provide citizens a clean, organised environment equipped with basic facilities. Removal of encroachments was part of same larger plan, which aimed at easing urban life, reducing traffic problems and using public places according to their original purpose, she added.
Ms Bilour appealed to people to support government in building an emerging, flourishing and strong KP and play their positive role in ongoing measures for improvement of civic facilities.
