Providing world-class healthcare facilities to workers is priority: Zulfiqar

Secretary Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), Zulfiqar Ahmed, accompanied by his team, visited Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital, Multan, established with the support of the Workers Welfare Fund Islamabad. He was warmly received by the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dr. Rana Altaf Ahmed*, along with senior members of the hospital administration.
At the outset of the visit, the hospital management welcomed the Secretary and delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the hospital’s performance, healthcare services, achievements, and future development plans.
During the briefing, the administration informed the Secretary that the hospital, established with the support of the Workers Welfare Fund, is providing modern healthcare services to industrial workers and their families from Punjab and other provinces. Registered workers receive up to 90% subsidy on treatment, diagnostic tests, and other medical services. A dedicated Workers’ Facilitation Desk has also been established to ensure timely and efficient services for beneficiaries.
Secretary WWF, Zulfiqar Ahmed, toured various departments of the hospital and expressed satisfaction with the quality of healthcare facilities being provided. He emphasized that all industrial establishments should submit accurate and complete data of their workers to the Workers Welfare Fund so that the maximum number of workers can benefit from these welfare initiatives.
He stated that the clear vision of the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, is to ensure that workers across Pakistan have access to the highest standards of healthcare, education, and welfare services. He added that the Workers Welfare Fund is fully committed to translating this vision into practical outcomes.
The Secretary also stressed the need to improve WWF educational institutions, medical colleges, and vocational training centres in accordance with international standards so that their degrees and professional qualifications gain global recognition. He informed that a comprehensive presentation would be submitted to the Federal Minister to facilitate the introduction of meaningful reforms in these institutions.
Expressing satisfaction, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed noted that workers’ contributions are being utilized transparently and effectively for their welfare. He reaffirmed the Workers Welfare Fund’s continued support for the hospital administration to further strengthen the institution and develop it into a world-class healthcare facility.
Later, the Secretary visited *Fatima Fertilizer Company, where he was warmly received by **Brigadier (Retd.) Ubaidullah Anwar, General Manager Administration*. The company management briefed him on the various initiatives undertaken for the welfare of its workforce and reiterated its commitment to providing the best possible facilities to employees.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary WWF stated, *”When workers prosper, the nation prospers.”* He further remarked that under the leadership of *Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain*, the Workers Welfare Fund is undertaking practical measures to further enhance healthcare, education, and welfare services for workers across the country, ensuring that every hardworking individual and their family have access to quality facilities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Secretary thanked the management of both institutions for their hospitality and expressed confidence that continued collaboration would further expand welfare initiatives for workers throughout Pakistan.
