KP info minister announces Rs10m grant, solerization for Mansehra press club

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, provincial ministers are undertaking visits to districts across the province to ensure the resolution of public issues at the grassroots level, review the performance of government departments, and strengthen direct engagement with citizens.
Addressing a ceremony at the Mansehra Press Club, the Minister said that August 5 will mark three years since the detention of Imran Khan. He stated that consultations with the central leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its allied parties have been completed, and a movement for Imran Khan’s release will formally commence on August 5. He added that the party’s future course of action would also be announced on that day.
Shafi Jan said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf believes in pursuing its political struggle within the framework of the Constitution and the law. He emphasized that Pakistan belongs to all its citizens and that safeguarding its security, stability, and prosperity is a collective national responsibility.
The Minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government firmly believes in freedom of the press and is taking practical measures for the welfare of journalists. He stated that Rs. 1 billion has been allocated in the 2026–27 fiscal year for journalists’ welfare, including scholarships for journalists’ children, educational assistance, interest-free loans, and other welfare initiatives. He further informed that Rs. 500 million has been allocated for a Media Colony, while the Journalists’ Endowment Fund has been increased from Rs. 200 million to Rs. 500 million. He added that the solarization of press clubs across the province is also being carried out in phases.
Announcing a Rs. 10 million grant for the Mansehra Press Club, Shafi Jan said that the provincial government would also undertake the solarization and renovation of the Press Club. He directed the Press Club administration to prepare and submit a PC-I so that work on the renovation project could begin at the earliest.
He said that the provincial government’s objective is to equip all press clubs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with modern facilities to provide journalists with a better professional environment. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting young journalists and promoting digital media.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Minister thanked the office-bearers and members of the Mansehra Press Club, elected public representatives, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers, and all participants. He reaffirmed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s commitment to public service, the promotion of a free press, and the welfare of the journalist community.
