Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik and Member of the Provincial Assembly Mohsin Ayub Khan met with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain at the office of the Secretary, Workers Welfare Fund (WWF). Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting with the esteemed national and provincial representatives, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain reaffirmed that the Workers Welfare Fund is fully committed to fulfilling its promise to provide flats in the Labour Complex, Taxila, to the families of the 70 workers who were martyred in the tragic twin suicide attacks near Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah, in August 2008.
The Federal Minister informed that the WWF has successfully completed the construction of 504 residential flats in the Labour Complex, Taxila, of which 70 flats have been specifically reserved for the families of the martyrs — a gesture of respect and recognition of their eternal sacrifices for the nation.
He further stated that the project has been formally handed over to the Punjab Workers Welfare Board for the allotment of flats to the legal heirs of the martyrs. However, due to ongoing litigation in the Civil Court, Taxila, the allotment process remains pending.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain reiterated WWF’s firm resolve to ensure that, upon conclusion of the legal proceedings, these flats will be allotted to the deserving families without delay. He emphasized that this initiative is a timeless tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those workers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
On the occasion, Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that the Ministry of Law and Justice stands ready to provide all necessary legal assistance to resolve any complexities, in full adherence to the law, in honor of the martyrs and their families.
Provincial Assembly Member Mohsin Ayub Khan assured that all required support at the Punjab Government level will be extended to facilitate the allotment of these 70 flats to the families of the martyrs in Labour Complex, Taxila.
It is noteworthy that both Mr. Aqeel Malik and Mr. Mohsin Ayub Khan represent the Rawalpindi constituency — the home district of the 70 martyred workers.
