We don’t want to interfere in jurisdiction of high court: CJP

Supreme Court (SC) while wrapping up appeals regarding the transfer of cases from the Rawalpindi ATC judge in the case related to May 9 incident upheld the penalty of Rs 22 lac imposed by Lahore High Court (LHC) on Prosecutor General (PG) Punjab .
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi remarked LHC gave message to government. Administrative judge too agreed with it. We don’t want to interfere in the jurisdiction of high court. Pay the fine. This is not a so big problem. Decision of high court will not affect career of PG and ATC judge.
CJP gave these remarks during hearing of the case Monday while presiding over a regular bench of SC.
Counsel for Punjab government took the plea judge has been transferred. The issue relates to high court remarks and penalty.
The CJP remarked high court decision will not affect career of PG and ATC judge.
The CJP Yahya Afridi said Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) has to run the entire province. . CJ LHC was to give message to government in the reference against the judge. The CJP remarked LHC gave message to government. Administrative judge too agreed with it. We don’t want to interfere in the jurisdiction of High court. Pay the fine. This is not such a big issue.
A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan is hearing the Punjab government’s petitions seeking cancellation of bail granted to the May 9 incidents accused. Other members of the bench are Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb
Punjab government had filed reference against former ATC Judge Rawalpindi,
LHC had dismissed the plea for transferring reference and case. Punjab government had challenged LHC decision in SC.
