Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University hosts graduation ceremony

Shifa College of Medicine, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, hosted a graduation and award distribution ceremony to honour medical students from Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) whose education was disrupted due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The ceremony marked a significant academic milestone for the students, highlighting their continued commitment to medical education under challenging circumstances. To date, 13 students have completed their remaining medical training at Shifa College of Medicine, while 20 students are currently continuing their studies.
The event was attended by senior academic leadership, distinguished guests, and faculty members. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, addressed the audience and emphasized the role of academic institutions in supporting displaced students. The Chief Guest, Executive Director HEC Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq shared the perspective of HEC Pakistan on the continuation of the education of students from Gaza in various universities and institutions of Pakistan.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman, acknowledged the collaborative efforts made to facilitate the education of students from Gaza and reiterated continued institutional support.
The ceremony also featured the virtual participation of the Dean of the Islamic University of Gaza, Dr. Anwar Sheikh Khalil, and Vice Dean IUG Dr. Ahmed Maher, who appreciated the academic partnership and support extended to the students in Pakistan.
The Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Amir, delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Abida Shaheen presented the welcome note, and the oath-taking ceremony for graduating students was administered by Prof. Dr. Fahad Azam.
Faculty members of Shifa College of Medicine also shared their reflections during the ceremony, expressing their support, appreciation, and strong academic and professional regard for the students.
The University acknowledged the support of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council and Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan for their continued role in facilitating medical education for displaced students.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of awards and recognition of academic achievement. University leadership reiterated its commitment to ensuring continuity of education and upholding the values of professionalism, service, and compassion in health professions education.
