Shaheen Shah Afridi nominated for ICC’s ‘Player of the Month’ award

ISLAMABAD
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the “Player of the Month” award for May, with Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi among the contenders.
The ICC has shortlisted three players for the prestigious award. Alongside Afridi, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie and Ireland’s wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker are also in the running.
Afridi’s inclusion in the list comes on the back of an impressive performance in May. The left-arm pacer claimed 10 wickets while playing T20 matches at an average of 14.5, showcasing his exceptional form throughout the month.
Pakistan will need Afridi to perform in the crucial match against India on Sunday, which has become even more important after the Green Shirts suffered a shocking defeat against the USA.
The weather forecast in New York suggests partly sunny skies with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in spots. Conditions will be breezy, with winds from the west at 24 km/h and gusts reaching up to 30 km/h. Precipitation is expected to be minimal, with only 0.5 mm of rain.
Humidity will be at 44%, with 69% cloud cover and a dew point of 12°C. The probability of precipitation is 40%, and visibility is expected to be around 9 km.
In some good news for Pakistan, all-rounder Imad Wasim has made a successful recovery from a side strain injury and is set to play in the match against India.
Imad sustained the injury during a training session, which kept him out of the final T20I against England and led to his precautionary rest during Pakistan’s opening World Cup match against the United States on Thursday.
