DG SEPA Waqar Hussain Phulpoto stated that plastic bags pose a significant threat to the environment, causing choking of waterways, entangling and killing wildlife and contributing to litter and pollution.
He emphasized that the government is committed to taking strict initiatives to discourage plastic bag use and promote eco-friendly alternatives, with media awareness being a crucial component of this effort.Let us pledge to work together to safeguard the environment and ensure a sustainable future for our planet,’ he urged.
“On this World Environment Day, I urge everyone to join hands in protecting our planet and promoting sustainable practices. Let’s work together to address environmental challenges and create a better future for generations to come,’ said Waqar Hussain Phulpoto, Director General of SEPA.”
This day every year highlights the urgent need for collective action to address the environmental crises of our time, he emphasized.

“’Plastic pollution is a triple threat, worsening climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. The staggering reality is that millions of tons of plastic waste enter our oceans and waterways each year, while micro plastics also pollute our soil,’ he highlighted.”
