ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) while issuing show cause notice to Faisal Vawda and MQM leader Mustafa Kamal has sought reply from them till June 5 on suo motu notice taken by the court regarding press conference by Senator Faisal Vawda.
It has been said in the order Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal should explain their position in regard to their statements. Prima facie contempt of court has been committed.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa remarked good and bad people are among all including lawyers, judges and journalists. What is bad. Say to me by mentioning name . Permission will not be given to target the institution. Whosoever has arguments he will silence we judges too. I have taken oath for the sake of institution and not for the sake of myself. I will never defend those who have endorsed martial law. If I have committed some wrong then its punishment cannot be given to other judges. Person who raises gun is the weakest of all persons because he has nothing to say .
He further remarked institutions are for people. Maligning institutions is no service to country. There can be mistakes in institutions.
The CJP Qazi Faez Isa gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during hearing of supplementary case here Friday. Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Naeem Akhtar are members of the bench.
During hearing of the case the CJP sought details of press. conference of Faisal Vawda.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) appeared before 3-member bench of SC.
The CJP inquired have you heard press conference. Contempt of court has been committed or otherwise.
AAG said voice was not there in the relevant part of what video has been given to him. I have heard some in news.
CJP Qazi Faez Isa remarked does this press conference come in the ambit of contempt of court. Can opinion be given if some case is pending hearing in the court. May be I have seen 500 defects in this institution. Do you want to lower the dignity of the institutions due to such things. I can not afford the burden of some one other. Tell me if I have done any wrong job. Criticize it. We are striving to do good work every day. We are following practice and procedure law.
