KP Public Day initiative ensures swift resolution of public complaints: Shafi Jan

Kohat
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Public Day initiative is aimed at ensuring swift, transparent and sustainable resolution of citizens’ problems, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafjullah Jan said on Sunday.
Speaking to the media during a Public Day at his office in Hangu Phatak, Kohat, Shafi Jan said the provincial government was committed to narrowing the gap between the administration and the public by taking governance directly to people’s doorsteps. He said the initiative was designed to speed up decision-making and deliver immediate relief to the citizens.
Large numbers of residents from Kohat and adjoining areas, including social activists and community elders, attended the session and raised concerns ranging from electricity, gas and water shortages to sanitation, dilapidated roads, drainage, healthcare and education facilities, as well as delays in government offices.
Shafi Jan heard the grievances patiently and issued on-the-spot telephonic and written directives to the concerned departments, instructing officials to resolve the issues on a priority basis. He warned that negligence or unnecessary delays in addressing public complaints would not be tolerated. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, was pursuing people-centric policies, adding that Public Day forums were a key part of that approach. He directed the officials to conduct field visits and assess problems firsthand rather than relying solely on paperwork.
All complaints received during the Public Day are being formally recorded and their progress will be monitored closely, he said, stressing that public trust was the government’s most valuable asset.
Public service is a sacred responsibility, Shafi Jan added, pledging that all available resources would be mobilised to ensure timely relief for the people.
