Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists on Friday staged demonstrations and rallies against the “ Constitutional Package” proposed by the federal government, and to demand the release of the incarcerated party’s founding chairman Imran Khan.
The demonstrations across the province were staged on the call of the Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapure and party chairman Barrister Gohar.
The protesters chanted slogans and also held banners and placards with different party slogans.
In the provincial capital, a demonstration was staged outside the Peshawar Press Club (PPC).
Addressing the party workers, PTI leader and former senator Faisal Javed voiced strong opposition to the recent constitutional amendments proposed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government in the centre and called for the immediate release of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
Speaking at a protest gathering, Javed stated, “the recent constitutional amendments are unconstitutional, and illegal methods are being employed to pass them. People are being unlawfully picked up from their homes.”
He also highlighted concerns regarding the implementation of reserved seats, urging the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the issue.
“The founder of PTI did not disappoint the nation, and we stand by him,” he added. Protesters echoed these sentiments, accusing the authorities of undermining the constitution and law.
They demanded the release of Imran Khan and vowed to continue their protests against the constitutional amendments.
