PTA conducts QoS survey for Fixed-Line Broadband

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has successfully completed its Quality of Service (QoS) surveys for fixed-line broadband services across 31 major cities in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Conducted during the first quarter of 2026, the surveys were aimed at assessing the network performance of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) and ensuring the provision of high-quality internet services to consumers.

The survey findings indicate that the majority of BSPs are compliant with key performance indicators (KPIs), including network availability (local and core), jitter, and network latency across both local and international segments.

However, performance challenges have been observed among certain providers across multiple network parameters. Elevated bandwidth utilization, particularly during peak hours, has resulted in network congestion and reduced internet speeds, adversely affecting user experience. Furthermore, increased latency levels in both local and international segments point towards inefficiencies in routing and backbone infrastructure.

PTA has directed the concerned operators to undertake immediate corrective measures to enhance network performance and improve overall QoS standards.

PTA remains committed to its mandate of improving fixed-line broadband service quality and ensuring an enhanced digital experience for consumers nationwide. The detailed QoS survey results for the first quarter of 2026 are available on PTA’s official website for public access https://www.pta.gov.pk/category/qos-survey-of-fixed-line-broadband-service-providers-2020-1403945254-2023-05-30.
