Prime Minister (PM) Shebaz Sharif has directed to hold investigation to identify the institutions, companies and people involved in sales tax fraud saying inquiry committee should present report within 3 weeks. A review meeting was held under PM Shehbaz Sharif in FBR with reference to reforms. PM was informed about participation of FBR in annual world bank conference in Washington. PM admired the FBR team on appreciation of FBR reforms study case in world conference . PM was particularly briefed about ongoing reforms in FBR particularly Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited. The present digital system has potential that IP address of consumer will be recorded in system due to change in information and tax fraud will be reduced next to nil.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Nazir Tarar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Dr Musaddaq Masood Malik, Atta Ullah Tarar,, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Bilal Azhar Kiani, chairman FBR and senior officers of the respective institutions.
