Pakistan-China Media Club soft launch: A new milestone in bilateral relations

Both Pakistan and China continue to be victims of fake news and organized propaganda. A comprehensive and effective strategy must be adopted to counter these challenges. These views were expressed by the Chief Guest of the event, Chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Muhammad Saleem Baig, at the soft launch of the Pakistan-China Media Club. He emphasized that the establishment of the Pakistan-China Media Club will be a milestone in Pakistan-China relations, providing an opportunity for both nations to better understand each other.
Chairman Pemra highlighted that Pakistan can learn from China’s advancements in various fields. He praised China’s remarkable progress, stating that it serves as an example for the entire world. He added that this century belongs to Asia, a sentiment echoed by poet Allama Iqbal in many of his works.
On this occasion, Tahir Farooq, Deputy Editor in Chief at Daily Ittehad Media Group and Pakistan Economic Net, Vice President of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors and President of Newly Formed, Pakistan China Media Club (PCMC), outlined the club’s objectives, which include bringing the two nations closer, fostering better mutual understanding, and effectively dispelling misconceptions about China and Pakistan, particularly among the media. He announced that the club’s activities would span the entire country.
Addressing the event, Political Consul of the Chinese Embassy Wang Shengjie welcomed the establishment of “Pakistan China Media Club” and called it a unique initiative. He said that “Pakistan China Media Club” will certainly play its role in countering the negative propaganda against Pakistan and China.
Mr. Wang Shengjie described the recent visit of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China as highly successful, noting that it would open new avenues for development. He reaffirmed that the friendship between China and Pakistan is ideal and will continue to grow stronger with each passing day.
The event was attended by several notable officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, including Principal Information Officer Mubasher Hassan, Joint Secretary Ashfaq Khalil, Director General (EP Wing) Ashiq Sheikh, Director (NAB) Brij Lal Dosani, Director (NHA) Sohail Aftab, Press Secretary to the President of Pakistan Akhtar Munir, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Abdul Akbar, Deputy Director General Muhammad Shahzad, Director Shahab Khan, and Deputy Director of the Digital Media Wing Asad. Women officers from the Ministry of Information also participated. Representatives from the Chinese media included Country Director Dujianing (Tabsum) of China Media Group (CMG), Director Jiang Zhao of Xinhua News Pakistan, and Liubi (Mah Noor) from People’s Daily, among others.
