PA committees review court orders, ex-Khasadars’ police integration

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Cabinet Standing Committees reviewed legal and administrative matters including implementation of court orders, the integration of former Khasadars into the provincial police, pending litigation and payment of land acquisition liabilities for development projects.
The meetings were chaired by KP Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Aftab Alam Advocate and attended by Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam, Advocate General Shah Faisal Utmankhel, senior officials of the Law and Planning and Development departments, representatives of the Peshawar High Court and officials from the Home and Tribal Affairs, Police, Communications and Works and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority departments.
One of the meetings reviewed a compliance report concerning the Peshawar High Court’s April 16, 2024 judgment in Writ Petition No. 4642-P/2023 and Contempt of Court case No. 313-P/2024. The committee discussed matters relating to the integration of former Khasadars and levy personnel from Mohmand district into the KP Police.
The participants considered steps for implementing the court’s directions in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure and rules.
A separate committee meeting reviewed legal matters concerning Writ Petition No. 8068/2026, Raza Khan Safi vs Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is linked to Writ Petition No. 7110-P/2026. Officials briefed the committee on the legal aspects of the case and the proposed course of action by the provincial government.
The committee also discussed payment of decretal amounts relating to land acquired for the Mardan Ring Road (N.W.E. Bypass). Participants reviewed financial liabilities arising from the land acquisition, relevant court orders and legal and administrative requirements.
Mr Aftab directed departments to ensure tangible progress on matters relating to court decisions and legal requirements within clear timelines instead of limiting them to routine official correspondence.
He stressed the need for effective coordination among departments dealing with government-related litigation to avoid legal complications and unnecessary delays.
The law minister also directed officials to process financial and legal matters concerning land acquired for development projects in accordance with relevant laws, court decisions and legal scrutiny by the Law Department.
He said the legitimate rights of affected landowners and the government’s interests should both be protected in accordance with the law.
Mr Aftab said adherence to the rule of law, respect for judicial orders and transparency in government affairs were fundamental principles, directing all departments to ensure serious and timely progress on pending matters within their respective jurisdictions.
