Matter of transfer of judges to IHC is a good omen move: CJP

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi while reacting to the matter of transfer of judges from other high courts to Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared it is good omen move as review has been made as per law and transfers have been made as per constitution.
“ When seniority matter comes we will see it then. I will not sit in hearing of any case where there is my interest. I am trying to allay reservations of judges. I have met all judges. I will make gossip with all the judges. I will use fearlessly whatever is my power of jurisdiction, he said this while addressing oath taking ceremony of newly elected office bearers of Press Association of Supreme Court (SC) here Monday.
He said I want to talk on the transfer of judges in IHC. Islamabad is symbol of federation.
“We are sent to schools that we should come out after becoming gentlemen. Why I became wiling on transfer of judges. Transfer took place as per constitution. One Balochi speaking judge came. One Sindhi speaking judge came. Federation is of the entire country. This is good step under article 200 of the constitution.
He held more judges should come from other provinces. The judges who have come to Islamabad should be encouraged. The matter of transfer of judges of IHC should not be mixed.
He remarked appointment and transfer of judges are two separate issues. Judges of other provinces should be given fair chance too. IHC is not some one specific but it is for entire Pakistan. Judges should appreciate it.
He noted the judges who have been transferred to IHC have not been appointed but they are already judges of high court.
I am hearing 30 to 40 cases daily. I have to end the backlog of pending cases in Supreme Court (SC). We need more judges in SC. Every judge is independent and empowered. All the load increases on 3 or 4 judges.
He said I am chief justice of Pakistan. I will go to judges of high court for gossip. Every thing will be Ok, It will take some time.
