LHC issues notice to respondents on JI petition

LB polls on party basis in Punjab
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to respondents on JI petition for holding Local Bodies (LB) polls in Punjab on party basis. The petition filed by Zia ud Din Ansari came up for hearing before justice Sultan Tanvir Sultan Ahmad of LHC Tuesday. The court directed to club other petitions of this nature. The petitioner took the plea amendment has been made in Punjab Local Government Act-2017 and after this amendment the LB polls are being held on non -party basis. This act from the side of government will cause harm to democracy. Order be given to hold LB polls in Punjab on party basis. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till December 19 after issuing the notices to the respondents.
