Transparent Trials Ensure Talent Selection, Says Secretary Ahmed Nawaz

PESHAWAR
The names of male and female table tennis players from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa selected for the National Table Tennis Championship in Lahore have been announced. The trials, conducted under the supervision of the Provincial Table Tennis Association, were held in Peshawar with transparency as the guiding principle.
Table tennis is gaining prominence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a significant sport, as evidenced by the enthusiastic participation during the trials.
According to the recently released list, the selected male players include Usman, Muhammad Haris, Owais Khan, Shah Iran, and Waqas. On the women’s side, the selected players are Idra Rehman, Hoor-ul-Ain, Janita, Hiba, and Mahnoor, all of whom showcased exceptional skills during the trials.
Provincial Table Tennis Association Secretary Ahmed Nawaz Malizai remarked that the selection reflects not only the players’ hard work but also the increasing trend of sports development in the province.
“These players’ performance indicates the availability of improved facilities and opportunities for nurturing talent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.
He further emphasized the role of sports like table tennis in empowering the youth by providing platforms to hone their skills and gain recognition at national and international levels. Such competitions, he added, also motivate players from other districts to step forward and participate actively.
“Our aim was to highlight talented players through transparent trials, and we succeeded in that,” he noted. “We are hopeful that these athletes will make a mark at the championship in Lahore, scheduled from January 23 to 27, and bring home medals.”
The transparent selection process and the dedication of the athletes serve as a testament to the growing importance of sports in the region, inspiring future generations to pursue their passion for excellence in table tennis and beyond.
