KP education minister orders robust oversight of school development funds

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan has directed the relevant authorities to devise a robust mechanism to ensure the transparent, timely and standard-compliant utilization of funds allocated for the construction and repair of schools across the province.
Presiding over a meeting on Tuesday in Peshawar regarding the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26, the minister said that approximately Rs19 billion has been allocated for school construction and repair under the ADP. He stressed the need for a comprehensive and well-structured plan to ensure that public funds are effectively utilized for the welfare of the people.
“The completion of development projects must be ensured within stipulated timelines, with full supervision and adherence to quality standards,” the minister said, emphasizing transparency and accountability in the execution of schemes.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid Khan, Special Secretary Masood Khan, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah Khan, and other concerned officials.
Participants were informed that a special committee has been constituted under the ADP 2025–26 to oversee the construction and rehabilitation of schools. The committee will be responsible for monitoring ongoing projects, ensuring high-quality standards, and overseeing the proper utilization of development funds.
Arshad Ayub Khan reiterated that the top priority of the current provincial government is the prudent use of public resources. He said that concrete steps are being taken to effectively implement people-friendly policies and provide improved educational facilities to the citizens of KP.
